I’m Brittany, wife and mama to two little girls Marlee and Hannah (4 yrs and 2 years). This is where I tell you what I’m about and what I love, but honestly that always seems to change as time goes by. For the most part, I’m just like you. I live and raise my family, I love the people around me, I fail, I cry out to Jesus and then I get up and keep on loving.

I live my days nestled in our home on 2 acres of woods where we moved in February of this year. My husband built me the house of my dreams. It’s small, simple and has a red door. When I’m not changing diapers, reading stories, doing laundry, cooking and sweeping the country dirt out of our house, I’m catching up on a good book or writing in some way or another.

In 2010 I quit my job as a receptionist to go to school and study American Sign Language. While I enjoyed this avenue, there was something missing for me. The love of writing has stayed with me since childhood and I wanted to begin writing again in a meaningful way. A way in which I could share my life and inspire others along the way. It was then the gentle home was born. Not long after that, we learned we were expecting our first baby! I completed my certification in American Sign Language a couple of months before our daughter was born. I decided to give up thoughts of career to be what I had always wanted- a stay at home mom.  I started this blog to document my pursuit of the gentle life- a life of quietness at home and joy in the simple, surprising, unexpected everyday moments.  The gentle home holds snapshots of our life- the ups, the downs, the beautiful, the silly, my faith in Jesus, nourishing recipes and my thoughts on living life with authenticity.

We are not a perfect family. Oh dear…no! Some days life at home with two little girls is magical- we’re making forts and dressing up in princess clothes and dancing around the living room without a care in our little world. Other days there is whining, baby screaming in the background, house looks like a tornado hit and temper tantrums from all of us.

But this life is ours and I’m thrilled to be able to share it with you. Thanks for coming to the gentle home, I hope you’ll enjoy yourself here and find inspiration for your days.  I’d love to hear your thoughts as well, please feel free to leave a comment.
